The Frantic "gang" is back with a lovely slab of wax in 10 inches. Love is all around on this release consisting of a bunch of cool garage stuff ranging from swinging to moody and from self-penned originals to obscure covers.
Side A's opening track titled "I Believe In You" is an excellent starter with moody feeling in vocals and lyrics, equally fuelled with cool Farfisa organ and fuzz guitar. "Ain't Gonna Cry No More" is the follow-up number, a fuzz guitar and organ driven track with fine vocals.
The Frantic Five have repeatedly proved in their 17-year career that they always kindly treat all the original stuff from the 60's paying this way tribute to the originators. "High Flying Bird" originally composed by a country-folk crossover singer-songwriter named Billy Ed Wheeler, gained recognition in the late 60's by an acid-folk version of Jefferson Airplane. In fact, the band's treatment on this track is a very successful cover version of the 60's teen punkers of Plague. Hats off in all three tracks of Side A to Dr. Organ's wonderful vocals!
"I Need Your Lovin'" on Side B is a cool and swinging tune based on a "frantic" tempo and cheesy Farfisa that brings to mind the early days of the band, back in the mid 90's! Same goes also to the title track "Love Beat" which is a lovely up-tempo garage beat song (with a hint of Merseybeat!) with great vocals that would perfectly fit into a party set. The record's last track is yet another exceptional cover version, "Bad Day Blues" of The Headstones with fuzzed-out guitar and killer Farfisa!
"Love Beat" is one of the most mature attempts of the band, an essential record for every garage maniac's collection!!!

Excellent Brit-pop from a Greek band that was originally formed in Birmingham back in 2001. Their fresh sound is perfectly blended of the sunny era of the mid to late 80's British indie legends, such as Smiths, New Order, Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets among others. They have supported so far Six By Seven, Electrelane, Saint Etienne and Ladytron, leaving the best impressions with their performance. "Underground" is now getting a remarkable airplay in Athens and Thessaloniki radio shows. A very promising "blast off" from a very promising young band.
One of the hottest garage albums of the year is coming from Uppsala of icy Sweden. Rumor has it that the band's master mind Magnus Jannson has travelled through tyme machine, back to the fab 60's. He has experienced garage punk since its birth from the Midwest, to Northeast and after a quick stop in New England State, he flied away to the Old Albion land where American Rhythm 'n' Blues was reborn by European musicians. Throughout his journey he gathered infinite sounds, senses and feelings, jumped back into his tyme capsule and returned to the year 2009.
As in "Come And Get It!" the listener will likewise experience clearly all the American musical roots of the band, but this time with an even fresher mood. From "That's All Right Mama", which is the opening song of the album, Dan Peters' and his new gang's (Derek Brand playing the bass and Graig Marsh on the drums) intentions are pretty obvious: It's party time!!! Having adopted a technique that reminds us of the Stray Cats, without becoming their copycats, however, they offer us 10 outstanding songs, 8 of which are their own. "Keep It In The Family" is the country-billy masterpiece that will most definitely originally steal the hearts of the audience and radio producers, but soon one could discover a real goldmine... "Slick Black Cadillac Daddy", "Can't Get A Brake", "Your Love Is Evil"... It's hard to choose one over the other. Among them the instro "Little Doggies" where Peters gives guitar paces of skill, speed and feeling, without being yapping even for a single second!

5 STAR HOTEL were first met in the University of Birmingham in 2001. After they have witnessed numerous gigs, they decided to form a group and just after a while they started composing originals and recording demos in various studios. From their very first live appearances, although totally unknown to the most, they stirred the public with their fresh and exciting British pop sound. From then on, they managed to draw the attention of a noteworthy following that gradually was getting increased.
Looking back to all those years from the early 80's to nowadays, the rockabilly scene has delivered a whole view of styles of the genre from the most important European countries besides a small country in the south-eastern side... Greece! Hailing from Athens, THE ROCKETS are a hybrid of some of the catalyst local bands from 80's and 90's such as The Jive Rockets, Red Hot, Speedball and more. The band's members having previously participated in similar combos they managed to experience themselves to that old-fashioned, but fresh, authentic 50's rockabilly sound! They are mostly influenced from the typical English rocker outfits and hep-cat elegance!
The band was formed many years ago in Belgium by Jolt and Y while they were still students. At that time the group consisted of three members and borrowed bore names such as Slag Throbs and Probing The Mess. Their music had a pure punk-new wave sound. Later, back in Greece, Y joined a 4-membered Goth-Punk band called Injectile that managed to record and almost made it to release a 3-song EP. Injectile appeared live only a few times.
