On Stage Records has the privilege to present to the European music market, the striking WEST SIDE WINDERS, an astonishing rockabilly band from Chicago, Illinois. Frontman Dan Peters, an exquisite guitarist has managed to gain, after several contests, a highly respectable place amongst 15.000 musicians worldwide! Despite his incredible talent on the strings, we are also talking about an inspiring composer as well as an excellent performer. In the two albums that are presented for the first time outside the state of Illinois, Dan Peters is strongly supported by gifted musicians, with bassist Derek Brand being an important factor on the success of this production.
It’s their first recorded album in which, besides Dan Peters, we can also hear Joe Kunkel on the drums and Randy Riley on bass. In the album’s 9 tracks, we can spot elements from all the American music culture, from country to blues, through a dynamic rockabilly sensation. The riffs often remind us of Brian Setzer and sometimes of Chet Atkins’ finger pickin’. It’s almost impossible to pick out a song… from the ambient instrumental “The Long Road Home” to the mind blowing “Stand Down”… In addition, the last song: “Spooky Surfer” is a spy/surf anthem that wraps up one of the most solid rock ‘n’ roll albums we’ve seen in the past few years.
